Media Intern (2):

  • Manage social media accounts and website
  • Brainstorming and content creation
  • Attend local events and network with NGOs, artists, and other entities
  • Native speaker of English or Arabic
  • Takes initiative and can work unsupervised 
  • Desire to live and work abroad
  • Modern Standard Arabic or English courses at a reduced rate (may be substituted for a living stipend)
  • Free Darija course (optional)
  • Development of social media management and linguistic skills in a judgement-free, mixed-language environment
  • Understanding of social media in different cultural contexts

Migrant and Refugee Program Assistant (2)

  • Provide daycare services to enrollees during class hours 
  • Help Roots admin organize transportation to/from the center for students
  • Reach out to local NGOs and government agencies to create partnerships and expand migrant/refugee program/services
  • Desire to work with refugees and migrants 
  • Empathy and cultural consciousness 
  • Desire to work with children 
  • Knowledge of French strongly preferred
  • Experience working with migrants, refugees, and displaced peoples 
  • Increased awareness of cultural differences and work experience in a diverse work environment  
  • MSA classes at a reduced rate (may be substituted for living/meal stipend of up to $500)
  • Free Darija course (optional)

English Programs Curriculum Development Intern (1)

  • Help administrative staff coordinate lesson planning
  • Brainstorm and develop content courses
  • Lecture series coordination
  • Native English Speaker
  • TEFL/TESOL Certification (not required)
  • Strong Arabic skills (intermediate-advanced)
  • Development of organization skills 
  • Increased understanding of TEFL in an Arabic-speaking country 
  • MSA courses at a reduced price (may be subsituted for living stipend depending on needs of intern)
  • Free introductory Darija courses (optional)

English Teaching Interns (2)

  • Assist with curriculum development for English courses of the beginner/intermediate levels
  • Execute lesson plans and classroom management strategies 
  • Coordinate and execute lecture series, content courses, and cultural workshops as needed
  • Native English speaker (required)
  • TEFL/TESOL Certification (preferred)
  • Desire to impart both linguistic and cultural knowledge to a diverse audience
  • Enhancement of classroom management abilities
  • Increased cultural competence 
  • MSA courses at a reduced rate 
  • Free Darija courses
