Throughout our course the “Mastery of Phonology through Tajweed” , you will learn what it is, its basic elements, and most importantly how to pronounce Arabic letters. In both MSA, Modern Standard Arabic and Classical Arabic, this is very important. It is a practice that is of particular interest to Muslims and those who study Islam, as Illm al Tajweed, a compulsory science of the Quran and an integral part of searching for its knowledge. The tradition of Quranic recitation is ancient and held dearly by practicing Muslims, which is one of the reasons why the rules of articulation have withstood the test of time. Originating from the era of the Prophet Mohammed SWS, tajweed is a sceince and has undergone a series of stages of development and preservation. These later led to the establishment of schools of Qira’at (different dialects of reading the Holy Quran). We will not dive deep into Quranic recitation, but we will have a brief overview in the last sessions of this program.
